HORSE NOW IN STORES!

Returning home after many years away should bring comfort. For James, it brings nightmares. When he travels back to his childhood farm in the English countryside, old wounds and buried memories rise to the surface. The familiar hills of Gloucestershire are no longer safe. Livestock are being slaughtered in the night, strange lights flicker over May Hill, and something ancient is stirring in the dark fields beyond the farmhouse.

As James struggles to reconnect with his ageing parents, he’s forced to confront not only the cracks in his family but the presence of a malevolent force that has haunted the valley for generations. What begins as a quiet homecoming becomes a descent into horror — a meditation on memory, guilt, and the monsters that live inside and outside of us.

Hogben’s Horse avoids the pitfalls of both folk and cosmic horror beautifully, crafting a tale that is equal parts unique and terrifying… The tense atmosphere is palpable, the creature deliciously terrifying, and the visceral language unforgettable.

raw territory between memory and myth, where family history becomes a horror story of its own. It’s bold, atmospheric, and brave. And that deserves to be celebrated widely.

— ★★★★  Emily B

With its great descriptive imagery, and scene setting, this is a quick, easy read, with a smooth, detailed narrative and prose that is almost poetic in places! The story's progression was perfectly paced and kept my attention.

— ★★★★  No ReMorse Reviews

Horse is a compelling, atmospheric read for anyone who enjoys literary horror, psychological tension, and richly drawn rural settings. It’s thoughtful, unsettling, and unforgettable.

MAGPIE COMING SOON!

Returning home should bring closure.
Our protaganist opens a door that should never have been found.

When he returns to the island of his childhood following a family tragedy, old memories begin to surface—memories that refuse to stay buried. Strange dreams plague his sleep. Words appear where no one has written them. And somewhere beyond the edges of the world he knows, something ancient has begun to take notice.

What begins as a quiet journey through grief slowly fractures into something far stranger. A forgotten island. A ruined chapel deep beneath the earth. A black orb that seems to watch those who look upon it.

As the line between dream and waking life begins to dissolve, James discovers that the story he thought he was living may not belong to him at all.

Because some stories are not meant to be read.

Some stories read you.

The Magpie is a cosmic horror novel exploring grief, memory, and the unsettling idea that fiction itself may be a doorway.
